課程概述

這門課程回顧印度過去的發展。分成兩個部分，第一部份從第1週到第14週，由我教授。第二部份從第15週到第18週，將請外面專家專題演講。課程將講述傳統印度在其地理環境的政治、文化、宗教與社會的變遷，到現代印度國家的形成，及其所面臨的挑戰。 

課程目標
 瞭解傳統印度文明的特質與現代印度的形成與挑戰 
課程要求
 學生應該如時上每一堂課，閱讀指定的讀物，參與課堂討論，繳交作業，完成考試。
關於作業：每位學生每週要從指定的閱讀材料中寫不超過兩頁的小報告。最後在學期結束前，從先前的小報告擴大並結合進一步閱讀的材料或專題演講，作期末報告（不超過五頁）。
